Catherine McCall heimspekingur og kennari í Skotlandi er að undirbúa rökfræðinámskeið fyrir heimspekikennara. Staður, tími og verð námskeiðsins er enn ekki ákveðið en Catherine er að kanna áhuga á námskeiði af þessu tagi. Eru einhverjir kennarar á Íslandi sem hafa áhuga á þátttöku í slíku námskeiði? Hún hélt námskeið hjá Endurmenntun Háskola Íslands fyrir nokkrum árum og þar kynntust um 20 íslenskir kennarar fræðum hennar og aðferðum. Nú rekur hún fyrirtækið The Philosophy Doctor og sýnishorn af hugmyndum hennar má sjá á Youtube.

Hi all,
In my “LOGIC is MAGIC” course I teach teachers how to do very, very basic logic. I created the course from experience with undergraduate students who had failed Logic the first time they took Logic and who then had to pass Logic in order to get their degree. (Sort of emergency Logic teaching for the Philosophy Dept. at Montclair State University) These were mostly students who had never mastered algebra. It is a practical course and is designed for teachers who have not taken a Philosophy degree.
The course is not for PwC teacher trainers or for those with a degree in Philosophy. It does address any theoretical issues. Students learn how to do basic logic correctly – any PwC Teacher trainer will already know this!
I am currently thinking about giving it in Scotland as a residential two days, possibly in July if there are sufficient numbers of teachers interested. The course is 15 hours. However, I am very flexible about giving the course – I can give it in any country at almost any time during the year.
